2009 ShowTime Cast

Since 1988, Kingsport’s ShowTime has captivated audiences with a high-energy, fun-filled, musical-variety performance. ShowTime is a unique family-oriented musical entertainment presentation performed by a local, community cast of 120 adults, teens, and children. The first few years ShowTime was presented in the Nancy Pridemore Theater at Dobyns-Bennett High School. In 1991, Eastman Chemical Company became the primary sponsor of ShowTime and the performances moved to the Toy F. Reid Eastman Employee Center Auditorium to accomodate the increasing audience.

In addition to being Fun Fest event, the “ShowTime” cast has also performed at local churches, civic clubs, First Night, Arts Awards, and as special entertainment for events at the Meadowview Conference and Convention Center.

The performances include popular music, exciting Broadway hits, time-honored country music favorites, traditional gospel medleys, inspirational contemporary praise hymns, fast-paced rock and roll, and spirited patriotic tunes.

Original ShowTime Cast 1988

We are dedicated to serving our region by presenting live entertainment by a community cast. Each ShowTime performance is an original theme-styled production produced by founder, Louise Bailey Dickson, a Kingsport native, and co-directed with Clark Parker, vocal director and musical arranger.

The motivation for creating ShowTime and continuing to present ShowTime for 20+ years is that the show represents the best of Kingsport—volunteerism and community spirit.
The community cast has continued to participate by sharing their talent and there is enthusiastic support for fun, family entertainment from our audiences.

Several cast members have participated in every year of ShowTime. These ShowTime participants include cast members John Gregory, Kathy Denton, Janet Cox, Patricia Skelton; theatrical engineer, Sonee Hall; and, theatrical director and co-founder, Paula Cate.
